Mechanical Presses

Ajax has designed, engineered and manufactured advanced types of forging equipment for over 100 years. Since the 1930’s when forging presses were initially introduced into its range of forging equipment, we have constantly reviewed and improved our original design features to encompass all the latest design innovations and high tech options required for modern forging. The Ajax Forging Press is offered as a back-shafted or direct-drive machine and also has the MN series press. Press designs can be modified to give higher torque, variable stroke speed and longer forging and ejector strokes according to the work requirements.

Our first vertical forging press was built in the 1930s, and the “MN” series of our presses was developed in 1998. These presses are rated in metric units of mega-newtons and feature higher stroking rates, wider Pitman, and a stiffer frame to provide the user with added productivity and more consistent forging conditions.

Adaptation of Programmable Controls and the latest electronic monitoring equipment, used in conjunction with first stage feeders and automatic transfer devices, provides production capabilities not attained in the past.

Over a century of experience has given ERIE Press Systems the expertise to manufacture the most efficient, accurate, and reliable mechanical forging presses in the industry. Our continuous growth and quality management programs represent our commitment to craftsmanship. They ensure constant internal improvement which translates to the best mechanical forging presses for your company's operation.

From 500 to 12,000 ton mechanical forging presses, our exclusive Scotch Yoke drive mechanism delivers superior precision in all forging processes. While our large variety of presses covers nearly every forging need, we can also custom design a mechanical press for your unique operation. If you already own an old mechanical forging press, our remanufacturing service can get it operating at peak performance again while also offering you the opportunity to upgrade and customize components of your machine.

Whether you require remanufacturing or a brand new mechanical forging press, we will partner with you to develop a solution. You won't find personal service like ours anywhere else. A project manager dedicated solely to your mechanical forging press will provide you constant progress reports and be available to answer any questions.
