Product Overview

The Pneumatic Die KeyDriver Built to Replace Your Sledgehammer

The ERIE KeyDriver is a horizontal pneumatic hammer that drives die keys and seats sow blocks without a single swing of a sledgehammer: the perfect addition to your workflow.

One Die Key Driving Machine for Every Sow Block Installation

Beyond installing dies, this die key driving machine also removes them, handling both directions of a die change with the same controlled force.

It replaces manual rams and small handheld pneumatic drivers used for sow block installation tool tasks and general tooling adjustments. Two cylinder bore sizes let the KeyDriver match tonnage needs across different forging presses, so one machine style fits crews doing frequent changeovers and infrequent press maintenance work alike.

Every stroke reaches full extension or retraction on command, keeping pace with production schedules.

Forklift-Mounted Pneumatic Hammers and Their Precise Alignment

Forklift mounting turns the KeyDriver into a portable, forklift-mounted pneumatic hammer that operators can position at the exact height and angle a die key or sow block requires.

A hand-held lever valve controls each stroke remotely, with a spring-centered return that stops motion the instant the operator releases the handle. Large ported valves open and exhaust quickly, keeping response time tight even under repeated strokes.

Key Details Behind Pneumatic Die KeyDrivers

Every part of the KeyDriver withstands constant impact work, not just occasional use. These are the components keeping it running strong shift after shift.

Icon image of a gear

Forged Restraining Lugs

Keep the unit locked in position during operation so blows land exactly where they’re aimed.

Icon image of a gear

Cast Iron Inertia Block

Absorbs recoil from every strike, protecting the frame and stabilizing the ram path.

Icon image of a gear

Alloy Forged Steel Ram

Withstands the shock of repeated impact without deforming or losing striking force over time.

Icon image of a gear

Composite Piston and Support Rings

Reduce internal wear so the cylinder holds pressure through years of daily strikes.

Icon image of a gear

Bronze Ram Rod Bushing

Lets the ram travel with minimal friction, extending service life between rebuilds.

Throttled Return Speed

Regulates how fast the ram retracts, giving operators consistent control on every cycle.

Sow Block Driver Durability Built for the Toughest Forge Shop Conditions

Every KeyDriver ships backed by complete repair services, so shops invest once and keep the same unit running for years instead of replacing it at the first sign of wear. The added mass in the larger KD-10 X 40 absorbs more recoil per strike, reducing vibration transfer to the frame and cutting long-term fatigue on internal components.

Die Key Installation Equipment Ready to Run From Day One

The KeyDriver arrives fully assembled and connects directly to your plant air supply, with no on-site staging needed before the first strike. An onboard regulator, lubricator, and filter manage air quality automatically, while condensation drains and shut-off valves handle routine upkeep without extra tooling.

Every unit includes an operations manual, and an optional spare parts package keeps common wear items on hand before they’re needed.
