Versatile Forging Presses for Diverse Applications and Materials

With force capacities ranging from 500 to 15,000 U.S. tons, Ajax/CECO/Erie Press hydraulic and mechanical forging presses can be designed for closed die, isothermal, open die, and other high-volume, specialty metal forming applications. They’re ideal for a wide range of forging materials, including carbon steels, aluminum, titanium, and super alloys, into a broad range of ferrous and non-ferrous parts.

Trim Presses
Ajax/CECO/Erie Press wide ram four-point presses combine versatility, compatibility, and reliability for a wide range of general forging applications, as well as auxiliary forging operations—including pre-forming, extrusion, setting, hot coining, trimming, and piercing—to complement closed or open die units.
Mechanical Forging Presses
From 500 to 12,000-ton mechanical forging presses, our exclusive Scotch Yoke drive mechanism on our Erie Press line and the advanced Ajax MN Series press deliver superior precision for near-net shape forging. While our large variety of presses covers nearly every forging need, we can also custom design a mechanical press for your unique operation.
Hydraulic Forging Presses
Hydraulic forging presses have a wide range of forging temperatures from warm and cold forging to pre-forming and extrusion. Designed from 250 to 15,000 tons, they are engineered with faster stroking speeds, variable speed control, and rapid die-change capabilities.
Closed Die Forging Presses
Featuring our exclusive Erie Press Scotch Yoke drive mechanism and a minimum of rotating parts, closed-die mechanical forging presses are designed for high-volume, closed-die forging applications. Our Scotch Yoke presses, designed from 500 to 12,000 tons, have been known throughout the industry as the most rugged and reliable mechanical forge presses available.
Open Die Forging Presses
Open-die forging presses are designed to meet virtually any forging need. For open-die forging applications such as ingots, slabs, billets, bars, pre-forms, and more, we will build an open-die forging press that gets the job done quickly and effectively.

From standard ring pre-forming press designs to integrated and automated ring pre-forming systems, Ajax/CECO/Erie Press ring pre-forming hydraulic presses provide advanced, rugged forging solutions that are built to last. Standard ring pre-forming presses range from 500 to 5,000 tons.
